It had been a few weeks since Aneira’s confrontation with Arcanus, beta of the Aurora’s Blood pack, left her with a large wound across her ribs. Within that time the large wound had mostly healed leaving a noticeable scar on her otherwise perfect body. Despite her great anger and hatred to the whole pack for this and many other reasons, and even with her promise to the deity to pay the pack another visit, Aneira decided to hold back and bide her time. “Why rush the inevitable…” she thought to herself at that time, “War will be here before they know it...and now to pick my side…” And with that she did, waiting, watching, and planning from the shadows until one night when the timing seemed right to her she was ready to approach Thanos.
Thanos seemed more than happy to have the fae amongst his ranks, but only as a low ranking foot soldier. This did not sit well with the proud fae and she tried to plea her case. “Maybe you don’t know who I am ‘sir’ but allow me to tell you and....” Thanos threw up his large hand with an open palm to order her to be silent. “I remember your legend well…Aneira…” he paused for a moment as if in deep thought. “You were once an Elite guard, and personal protector of the once mighty Ice King….however during the great war that took place within his realm…you lost your life…to an angel…” he said in a harsh tone as he looked down upon her smaller figure. “But that’s not fair Thanos I…” The massive male began to walk away not even allowing her to finish her sentence. “My words are final Aneira! You may fight in my war, but you will not be granted the title of commander…nor will you be granted any other title while under my command….” Aneira did not speak another word to the large male as he continued to walk away from her. “I guess it’s better than nothing…” She thought to herself.
One night later, by means of “killing” the boy named Twlight within the Aurora Blood’s territory Thanos had officially started the war. Within minutes, monsters and demons of all shapes and sizes began pouring into all the key locations of Brii and the packs territory lead by their commanders. The allies, who were made up of demons, angels, dragons, and many other noble beings, now found themselves in the heat of battle. As blades clashed, bones smashed and blood-curtailing screams rang out the body count of both sides began to rise. At this point, it would still be too soon to say who was ‘winning’ if such a term could be used here, but one thing was curtain…Many would die this night…
Meanwhile Aneira, who was a few miles off from the Aurora’s territory when the battle started, was ordered to follow the lead of a commander named Muk. “Let’s go!” He shouted to his troops as he saw the signal far off over the mountaintop ahead of them. Everyone seemed edger and ready to go, letting out snorts, growls, roars, or howls depending on the individual’s breed to show aggressive enthusiasm. All were ready to follow except for Aneira, who was still upset about not being able to lead the charge. Instead she simply eyed all who dared to make I contact with her, staring back with her icy glare that could freeze even the bravest of hearts. This caused a slight break within the overall noise of the group, which then caught Muk’s attention. He stomped over to her and looked down at her. “Is there a problem here?” Aneira looked up never for a moment breaking eye contact with him. It was quite the sight for Muk was a blad, eight-foot tall Orc with budging green muscles and jagged lower canines that seemed to make no effort to fit within his large mouth. This compared to the fae who in her humanoid form only reached a height of 5’7” it was no wonder that the other began watching the pair as a possible fight were to break out. “…No “sir”…” “IT’S COMMANDER MUK TO YOU WENTCH!” he cut her off with his booming voice. He was not willing to deal her and her attitude, not tonight, not ever. Aneira simply scoffed and held her nose never breaking her icy glare. “Fine then “Commander”…Muk was it? There are no problems here…But please do us both a favor next time…consider doing something about your rancid breath…” This earned a few chuckles from the troops around them who were soon silent once more after Muk had glared at them one by one. “Well then if there are no problems here…we are late! Let’s go! Now! March!” He looked at her one last time before going back to the lead position. Not another word was spoken as they made their way to the battlefield.
From where the group was stationed it took them about ten minutes or so to make it to the half way point even with Commander Muk forcing them to march as fast as they could. It was at this time that Aneira saw her opportunity to lead the charge as they were about to walk around a huge mountainside with a narrow pathway. Being that most of the soldiers consisted of large bulky creatures, the narrow path left them no choice but to walk one by one into a blind spot. “This is too perfect…” she sneered to herself. Shifting into her shadow form Aneira easily made her way to the front of the line without anyone noticing her. Once in front of the commander, in a hidden corner she solidified her form pulled out her giant ice blade and without hesitation sliced the commander’s legs off as high as she could reach causing him to fall off the steep cliff to his death, only his bloody stubbed legs remaining in their standing position. With the next solder in line about to turn the corner Aneira quickly disposed of the commander’s legs and put away her sword to look as inconspicuous as possible. And it worked one by one the soldiers marched on around the steep mountain side as fast as they could. It seemed that they took no notice to the disappearance of their Commander simply because they thought he was a few paces ahead.
It was not until they made it to a clearing within the tainted part of Brii that one of the soldiers grew suspicious of the ice fae. He was a bulky, dark-red pelted, one-eyed Minotaur named Gardor. Being almost as tall as the commander at 7’8” Aneira once again was faced with an opponent much larger then herself. However like before she showed no fear and simply stared him down until she decided to speak to the vile beast, Gardor was also of poor hygiene as his fur smelled like a barn overdue to be cleaned out. “What do you want cow boy…” Aneira scrunched nose, the smell driving her sensitive canine-like sense of smell crazy. “Where is Commander Muk? I have not seen him since we have left the mountain path. He was only a few paces ahead of me…” The monster said in a deep booming voice. “How the hell should I know? Do I look like his keeper?!” She grumbled with great irritation. “He is probably way in front of us now because we are wasting so much time here! Do you know how late we are?! We must go now!” The rest of the soldiers were soon caught up and over hearing their conversation and started speaking amongst themselves. “The Commander is missing?” one of them asked. “I think that girl is leading us now” said another one. The gossip went on for a few moments until Gardor stepped in. “Shut up! All of you! As second in command here I will take control of this unit until we can catch up to Muk who is probably just ahead of us…” He said looking over to the ice fae with his one blood shot eye. Aneira met his gaze once more, tired of being bossed around by these brainless, smelly, chauvinistic, bastards, she had enough. Without any warning the ice fae formed a long thin icicle spike which she quickly and skillfully shot right into his good eye dropping the beast to the ground, killing him instantly. “Anyone else wish to lead?” She asked in a sarcastically sweet voice. At this point not a word was spoken, everyone was too scared to say anything to her. “Good then we are going to continue onward before we miss the entire war…” And from that point on the soldiers followed Aneira no questions asked.
Meanwhile back at the Aurora blood’s territory as war was breaking out all around, sword clashed, shields were smashed, and blood-curdling cries of the fallen on both sides could be heard in every direction. In the mitts of all this Twilight, “the first sacrifice” was slowly waking up from his death-like state. It seemed that the boy gain the ability to come back from the dead from lineage, and well having the soul of a phoenix prince does not hurt either. Regardless of how it came to be, the point was that the Aurora’s gained at least one more soldier that night which very soon would prove to be very valuable. With his neck in pain and little memory of what happened to him prior to before he was killed, the young brute simply held his head as his cold blue eyes scanned the horizon. Fighting and bloodshed was all he could see, hear, and smell from where he stood. Countless bodies littered the ground already since the war started not even 30 minutes ago. Finally feeling the last part of his broken neck snap back into place he was able to move out of the way just in time as a random low level demon attacked him head on. Twilight took out his sword and made quick work of the demon, slicing him in half as he jumped at him once more. With more demons on their way Twilight decided to go to higher ground before continuing to battle them. One by one, they fell to him, too weak to put up much of a fight but this was only the beginning, for a stronger opponent was well on her way...
