Hey guys, as some of you knew I was on vacation for a few days last week and came home Friday the 10th. However because of unpacking, exhaustion, a mad clean up effort, and back to work by Sunday night for my usual 40 hours, I of course didn't get a chance to do a write up about till now XD.
OK So I will start from the beginning; I went on vacation last week! Woot! I took off from work and we went to Maryland Monday the 6th and cam back friday the 10th. We went there via MY car via the ferry boat in Delaware. This is were the FUN begins. For those who don't know or don't remember I am very protective of my car and all I could think of was my poor baby, who I JUST paid off in April, was going to go sliding off the deck into the cold water never to be seen again....X'D Yes I am a very paranoid person! So why my car, why this way then? Because my boyfriend Tony's cars both suck, they are both old broken down jeeps for work that could stall on us at anytime. So as much as he does not really care for my car, calling it an old lady car (I have a ford focus 08 btw) for safety when traveling "far" from home (We live in NJ) we take my car. As for why the ferry? Simple It would have easily added an extra hour? hour and a half? of driving to our trip. So once we were by the ferry in delaware we waited our turn to board, we were an hour early, and decided to have lunch and drinks. XD I had a hawaiian hot dog with chips, and a Dark and Stormy to drink. It was a beautiful day and my nerves were starting to settle a bit as we ate, drank and walked around, they had an almost museum like building with things to see about the ferry. And one weird thing I noticed? There were a lot of dogs waiting to board the ferry too and all most all of them were clearly female LOL, only me right? It was funny too because the one was like a lab mix who went for a swim and was all wet waiting for the boat. So long story short I was nervous about driving on the boat and about someone scratching my car because we were put so close together but over all I was ok because I got a nice spot in the lower part of the boat with walls on either side, no water near her XD. From there we spent the rest of the boat ride on starport side, me pretending I was that girl from titanic. I even chanced my phone in the high wind to get video of it LOL. It was nice, we saw a small pod of dolphins, the captain claimed on the loud speaker that he saw a sea turtle but we missed it, I saw jelly fish, and Tony saw a stingray. Once we hit Maryland I had my oh shit moment when we had to now try to get off the boat around this narrow spot but thankfully no problems here either. Once on the road again I realized something I have become a lobster! Sunburn on my upper and lower arms, chest and face. LOL the trip barely started and I was already burnt. -face palms-
Fast forward to our destination Ocean County Maryland! It was a cute little beachy tourist/college kid trap with a lot of stores, liquor, food, gift shops exc. Including a store called "Candy Kitchen." I sew there was on on every block and about 2-4 on there broadwalk strip. Very big business there. Here we have fun on the board walk, the beach, mostly just walking and see and eating/drinking. The real fun came the next day when we went to Assateague Island to see the wild horses! They were incredible! Not even right after going over the bridge there was already signs of them, horse dropping. XD And after stopping by the center that was like a little museum/gift shop we saw our first herd of them not even a block away on either side of the road. At once point one even crossed right in front of my car! After taking a few pictures we decided to go to the beach, and the there he was...The little brown stallion I decided to nickname "The Beach Master." It was incredible he was sadly alone which meant he did not have a herd of his own yet but was old enough he couldn't stay with his family anymore but that didn't seem to bother him. No he was bold, brave, ballsy and yet cool as a cucumber. He combed the beach helping himself to everyone's unprotected food one blanket at a time. You can tell he's done this before. He ignored everyone who tried to shoo him off, one person even had the nerve to throw sand at his face (I wanted to slap that person), while another throw water and his hide. Surprisingly no reaction the assault the beach master continued on his way until the stupid people started crowding him. His reaction? He just waited patiently for people to back off and continued to a bag of potato chips to which he popped open with his hoof like a boss! OMG I loved him, He was so naughty and yet so good natured, and by the time he got to our blanket he skipped us because we didnt bring any food and he disappeared down the beach line. OMG I wanted to take him home with me XD what a bad boy! Loved him. From that point on there were no more horses on the beach and we had just spent the rest of the time getting battered by big waves and stronger riptides. I also collected some shells while I was there.
Moving on we drove further into the island and parked in a small lot when we saw another herd of horses. This one was cool because they were almost all paints, and one was a blond/palomino(?) paint. They didn't get into any trouble like the beach master but OMG they were just so beautiful to look at. And they let us get close but unlike some dumb people I didn't try to touch them or feed them. There are signs everywhere that tell you not to do this. Then across the street was another herd of mostly reddish/brown horses. They were much harder to tell apart from one another, one of them had a blaze of white on its face but IDK if that one was the stallion or just another mare. They were no as colorful but still majestic to watch. If you haven't caught on yet I love horses
. After watching them for a bit we went further in but only found roads, trails, and the bay side of the island which you can apparently go clamming and crabbing in the shallow waters. No more horses though. This was because 1) In the summer the Marshes and bay were swarming with bugs, biting flies, mosquitoes, etc. and 2) Only 2 miles of the WHOLE Island has road, trails, and buildings. the rest is untouched and left for the other 100+ horses to run free and be left alone. I think you can take a off road vehicle there but we only had my car so no...LOL. I was so sad to leave and missed them already as we went back to our room. And after deciding what to do next Tony decided we should go back for another day since our paid passes were good for 1 week. Yay! ANd I am so glad we did. FIrst and for most we were able to see the herd in the road again, same herd, and they were grazing/drinking in the marsh this time. Beautiful! Then for no reason the herd starts trotting up the side of the road to which we all (there was a good crowd of people) moved out of there way so they can pass us. OMG incredible! And once again what luck another member or possible the same member (I have to check the pictures again) crossed my car again! As much as my inner child wanted to reach out of my window and pet him/her I knew it was a bad Idea and rolled up the window. So majestic! OMG then in the same parking lot as yesterday there was the herd with the blond paint who I found out was a mare. She was one of my favorites to watch, such a pretty horse. Once I was there I thought about it all of the horses in this herd seemed to be mares, so who then was there stallion? Well by the bathroom with an outside foot washing station came this short lanky but handsome stallion, found him! He was the only non-paint in the herd. He instead was a dark Buck skin? I have to look up horse colors again it has been over 4 years LOL. And what was he doing? getting a drink from the running water watching people coming out of the bathroom.
Then across the way there was a large group of people having a party/BBQ and the dark stallion and his closest mare who I nick named white legs (she was a normal brown and white paint but it was cool that her front legs were completely white up to her withers while the rest of her was mostly brown) decided to join in. Like the beach master the stallion helped himself to anything he wanted as did white legs, however the poor mare seemed so worried about being there but refused to leave his side as a strong woman does for a good guy. It was incredible to watch and kinda funny. People are dumb though and of course were petting them, feeding them, and one woman even kissed, YES KISSED the stallion on the nose! She is lucky she didn't loose her face. Despite the tameness they show people they are wild! And when threatened will bite and kick!!! Dumb.... Well after a while they decided they had enough and moved on, white legs couldn't get away fast enough, while the stallion just seemed bored with the whole thing. Meanwhile the others of that herd including my blond friend watch them both from a safe distance grazing as if to say..."Oh god there at it again...Why do we follow him?" LOL. Then we saw the reddish-brown herd again, still don't know who there stallion is, and then a thought hit me...What if this was the beach master's old family?! They were the same color after all. That would be crazy lol. And then same as before horses were no longer seen past a point do to bugs and what not so we stopped at the gift shop and then headed back. And I was said because I got to see everyone again except for my beach master...Where could he have been today? The beach was empty...Then on a patch of grass right by a three way road right before the bridge to get off the island, there his was!!! Grazing on grass cool as can be as cars are whizzing by in every direction! I took a video! OMG that made my week. Oh how I wish I could have given the little naughty boy a hug. Love him! I hope he got off that road safely after we left, and I hope he gets a head of his own one day.
Then another day back to the broad walk walking around and playing arcade games, yes I am a big kid. And I won a lot of stuff with tony's help. Day one before going to see the horses I won two adorable stuffed animals from the "the claw" machine for the kids his mom babysits. Then on day two with combined tickets from two nights of playing we earned enough for me to get a beany baby, one was a brown horse. MY BEACH MASTER!!! SO that was the only "toy" that I didn't give to the kids. He now says next to my bed on the dresser on my side ^.^. I also manged to grab two more stuffies at another arcade from a really old looking mechen. I was on fire! We ate at a place on the broad walk called "The Brass Balls" Which was a bar and grill type place. And the drink I ordered had such a dumb name I couldn't even say it with a strait face. I got the "Dragon my balls" X'D. The woman looked at me and repeated the drink out loud to which I could only confirm by shaking my head cracking up. SO mature I am...And what was funny was the waitress kept saying it with such professionalism it blew my mind. "Did you enjoy the dragon my balls?" "Do you want another Dragon my balls?" I was dying. We then took more pictures of random things and called it a night.
Finally on our last night we went over to yet another hotel room and spend a night in Baltimore. There Aquarium was amazing, so many floors of tanks including Sharks! Ha! Just in time for shark week. There newest attraction was oddly enough my favorite shark the Black Tipped Reef Shark! They were beautiful and so inquisitive. They kept flying past the glass as guest were watching. So cool. There was also a dolphin show which of course I insisted we be in the splash zone! OMG that water was cold. Totally worth it! Dolphins are amazing animals. There was also an exhibit were they had wet and dry season to show the difference in what animals are there at these times and I got a nice pic of a frilled lizard lounging on a stick. SO much fun. We also got to take a free tour of an old oddly shaped light house which was also a lot of fun. Not to mention how much I enjoyed watching water taxi's drive by. Oh and we got to see a pirate attacking a boat, just to have water cannons shot at him by small children XD. It was a nice little watch show that I totally took video of >_> Then our last stop for the trip was the McCormick store which was more for my mother then for us but hey It was a nice place. From there we drove home and got back by friday afternoon.
As for the mad clean up effort, That was thanks to my boy's mom who decided to move all my stuff around to "strain up." Cue angry eye twitch. (I am a bit weird with people handling my things when I am away, and I am a bit OCD too) SO I took a deep breath and went though everything one by one tearing half the room apart. It turned out I had a lot of garbage and stuff to be shredded so I started making piles and bags up. 4 garbage bags later and one bag of shredded paper I got my room back the way I wanted it and made a lot of room up. So I unpacked and placed my stuffed beach master where I wanted him and all was right with the world again. XD.
Now why did we go on vacation? It was our Anniversary of dating! How long? 10 year! 10 years?! When the fuck are you getting married?! Well its not that simple for us right now. In terms of our relationship we do love each other and want to live together in our own house one day. However we are still waiting on a plot of land in my town to be available to buy at the price we want so we can build. Why are we doing it this way? Because NJ is expensive as hell, property taxes can make you bankrupt here. We do not have (at least as Jersey is concerned) enough money saved up to get anything more then a shoe box to live it. Our options are limited in terms of what towns (some of the nicer areas have $8,000 a year for property tax only x.x), houses, (most are old, need rebuilding, lifting thanks to Sandy and the new laws), and land (most of the bigger homes meaning more then one bed room and a cheap toilet make up for more room by giving you no land. And I want a small yard at least for a dog of 10-30lbs.) So our best option is getting cheap land in town (over 20 homes will be torn down for rebuilding soon hopefully) and finding a contractor willing to work within our small budget. So everything right now is a waiting game. So why not just get married while waiting? Well 1) I would rather have a house first. We need more privacy in our lives. 2) Tony does not believe in long engagements. Its weird to hear from a guy but he says there is no point in getting engaged if it never leads to actual marriage within a reasonable time frame. (Cue the 5 year engagement movie) In terms of this I think its kinda admirable...I mean it means that when he does propose he will not be string me along for years. So yeah Im ok with it for now. 3) Wedding are expensive and we both have big families. And I want a real wedding not just a lets go to city hall type nonsense. I have never been engaged or married and I want it to be special. I know I am spoiled. Oh well. But I told him on our trip that after we are settled into our new home we are saving up for a wedding so
. LOL SO yeah thats my story. Thanks for reading. I can send stuff via email if you want, I took too many pics and videos to put on DA, it would be like spam.
PS: One one of our 3 dollar bus trips in OC the bus became really crowded and a 18-20 year old girl in a tiny bikini fell back into my lap for a second when the bus made a sudden stop or turn. I was sitting she was standing XD. Tony was hoping she would fall on him LMAO I was just like well too bad I can't get anything out of this since I'm hetero. LOL You're welcome for that image guys
. Oh and Yes in Ocean County everything that had OC on it made me think of OC(Own Characters, which in turn made me think you all LOL)
